Regal Luminary Egg - Rose and Telinda
Rich and vibrant hues sing over the smooth, near perfect shell of this ovoid, drawing attention to its strongly defined architecture. Embraced by light, opulent sun-yellows are almost immediately turned into burnished gold, as if they were pure metal, but as the luminary-shades mingle into the darker, aureate tones, so another colour starts to blend alongside. Softly at first, lilac tones trail their fingers about the peak, becoming darker and heavier towards the base, where it concludes in a most regal purple.

Regal Luminary Egg Inspiration - Rose and Telinda
Versailles palace is situated in northern France, near Paris. Originally built as a small château, Louis XIII liked it so much that he had it enlarged by his 'royal engineer and architect', Philibert Le Roy. Louis XIV, also known as the Sun King, his court, and the various departments of government occupied it in 1682 after further embellishment from his own architect, Louis Le Vau. Yet this 'little house of cards', as the memoirist Duc de Saint-Simon called it, remained too small and during the 1680s the great north and south wings were added. Numerous galleries, salons, and royal apartments were all lavishly decorated and fitted with ornate furnishings. The gardens, designed by the French landscape architect André Le Nôtre, were laid out in broad avenues lined with trees, shrubbery, and groups of sculpture, and included the Petit Trianon, one of the royal villas, which was a favorite retreat of Queen Marie Antoinette.

Regal Luminary Egg Hatching Message - Joslyn and Telinda
As if disturbed by a quaking of the land that it stands upon, the Regal Luminary Egg shudders once more racked from within by impending forces of doom. A slow vibration disturbs the lilac tendrils creeping down the smooth surface, obscuring them further in the haze of blinding heat. Half a breath later, fine traceries -- like cracks webbing through the fabric of a building -- creep upward, the burnished gold trembling in the light of the sun, until ultimately, its inhabitant succeeds in collapsing its walls in a shimmer of shards.

Wafted Frond Fan Mirage Hatchling - Shasta and Telinda
The air of the hatching grounds, heavy with humidity, hangs oppressively -- unmoving. Only the oscillation of light hugging close to the sands seems to be moving. Over one location, the air seems to solidify -- bending and waving, up and down. This patch of animated light appears to be constructed of green fronds, bowing gently, sweeping the heat away. A fan, large enough to actually have some use against the baking temperatures, pushes forward the shade beneath -- cooling the air just enough by the motion of each stroke.

Impression Message - Coriana and Telinda
Wafted Frond Fan Mirage Hatchling wafts with an amazing amount of grace over the sands, movements slow and ponderous in search of that elusive lifemate. Backtracking, to a small knot of candidates, she makes her choice, her deep, layered green muzzle poking Auralia in the chest, her decision finally made.

Rainforest Valley Green Hatchling - Kinoa and Telinda
Leisurely making its way through a lush tropical jungle, a ribbon of water winds like a streamer from a child's kite, sweeping toward a mysterious, dimly lit pool of water that bathes this hatchling in depths of layered watery-greens. Rich olive-greens flow smoothly over her flanks, muscles delineated by ripples of deep sapphire, almost as if the water's edge were captured by moonlight, whilst her neckridges are graced with a delicate pattering of mossy-greens, like long tendrils of greenery hung from the boughs of a riverside tree. Shadows lengthen down the curve of her belly -- the promise of secrets, passed into legend -- toward her lithe limbs, the verdant-green seamlessly shading into the jet-black of her sharp talons. Pinions blaze with a dazzling burst of yellow-green -- as though the sun had placed a flamboyant handprint there -- gradually darkening over her leading edges -- the colour of lilypads floating on the surface of a well-hidden pond -- before paling amidst the gently dappled greens of her wingsails.

Rainforest Valley Green Hatchling Inspiration - Kinoa
'The Moon and the Sun' by Vonda N. McIntyre was the inspiration behind Iesath's description. It is the story of Marie-Josphe, a young lady in the court of Louis XIV, also known as the Sun King. When her brother Yves returns from a naturalist voyage with two sea monsters (one live, one dead), Marie-Josphe is caught up in a battle of wills involving the fate of the living creature. The king intends to test whether the sea monster holds the secrets of immortality, but Marie-Josphe knows the creature to be an intelligent, lonely being who yearns only to be set free. In a monumental test of the limits of patience and love, Marie-Josphe defies the will of the king, her brother, and the pope in defense of what she knows is right, at any cost.

Iesath's Impression Message - Rose and Telinda
Blinding light flashes directly in front of you -- your own personal sun -- and causes you to close your eyes, sending you swirling from the sands. Caught within a ribbon of moisture, your senses are dappled with the cooler shades of a tropical rainforest, the delicate drip of moisture from verdant leafs audible in the background, as a soothing, peaceful sound. Then a presence joins you, inducing momentary chaos, but creating order a heartbeat later. This is a partnership, not domination, and as the voice strengthens with her look, you begin to /feel/ emotions coloured with rainbow brightness and the joy they bring. << You will know me as Iesath, Auralia>> Not just a dazzling voice, but also confident and wise, << I'm hungry!>>

Iesath - Telinda
The Druids used a calendar system revolving around a series of seasonal holidays or festivals in the Wheel of the Year. Formed around the idea that time is not linear but circular, these holidays mark the cycle of birth, life, death and rebirth evident in the change of the seasons as well as the span of a human life. Eight festivals are central to the Druidic calendar and mark important periodic celestial events like solstice and equinox, as well as harvests. Iesath (pronounced Ee-sath), comes from Esbats, or moon changes, and although not a true festival, was often part of these festivals. Moon changes, new, full or dark, were times when healing rituals and magical workings were performed, and were times of growth, inspiration and insight. The rituals were never static, always changing to reflect the needs and wants of the people, although the patterns -- use of symbols, creation of sacred space, invocation, sharing of food and wine and laughter, and formal return to ordinary space -- were always the same. The rituals were formal or informal, scripted or unscripted, but always alive with energy.

Iesath's Personality - Shasta and Telinda
Iesath is a dragon of changing temperament, sliding in easy transformation from curious youngster to doting mother figure, to wise elder in a seamless progress of thoughts, feelings and movements. One moment she will be overflowing with questions, bubbling with thoughts, the next she will smooth into maternal coaxing, assisting growth and development as if it were the easiest thing on Pern, << Come on flower, you can grow now, and then you'll blossom beautifully. Grow, little flower, grow!!!>> Later, she might simply sit back and watch, filling your mind with quiet << Mmmhmmm>> feelings, as though she's seen, heard and done it all before.

Though her moods, her opinions, her nature, might seem to change from day to day, her love and trust in you will never wane, for you are Auralia. Pure, and simple, you need not be anything other than what you are for her to find content in you. You and she are one, balancing each other, whether in Fall, flight, or simple day to day tasks. She is confident in your abilities, as in her own and never will she show doubt in either of you. In the end this will make her a formidable flyer and fighter of thread.

She shows remarkable insight for dragonkind, often listening to her peers chatter about some puzzle, before suddenly offering a solution with no other explanation than, << It just feels right!>>, causing lots of groans from Eilenth, who always thinks there's a deeper meaning to everything, and Briedith who'll always believe the gossip solution first and then wonders why it doesn't work. She draws her inspiration from the natural world around her, the changing weather patterns fascinate her, as do the ebb and flow of the ocean's tides. Moonlight will captivate her, hold her attention, and be the time when she wants to try new things. Never mind that you should both be asleep, Iesath has other plans << The way the moons shine on the lake certainly has to be more fun that swimming there in the day, don't you agree, Auralia?>>

While lacking in long term memory like all dragons, she draws from your experiences, and perceives patterns within the changes. Once grown, she will methodically eat every third day, she'll know when thread is expected, she'll know where to flame a particular patch to get rid of it entirely! << Like that!>> she'll tell her clutchmates, and later her wingmates, who may sometimes ask for her advice on certain problems when they figure out exactly what she's capable of.

Because of the very force of her nature, you will be usually able to predict her flights to the day, as she is one of few greens who, extenuating circumstances aside, is like clockwork. What you'll be incapable of predicting, though, is how she will show her proddyness, being fussy and intractable as a five turn old on a rainy day, or flirtatious as a pre-teen who's just discovered the opposite sex. So, too, might your emotional reaction to her nearing the time to rise, be without prediction. But yet, under all this, lies the tantalizing hints of some pattern. Then, when the time finally comes to rise, she'll lead the males in a merry chase, often choosing the middle of the night to rouse all the males out of their couches, and their riders out of their beds.

Iesath's Voice - Telinda
Iesath's voice is light the contrast between night and day. Her darker moods are sultry, full of the mysteries of the moon, ebbing and flowing from one thought to the next. Her happier emotions are like the blazing sun, a rainbow brightness of feelings and colours. On the whole, both her physical and mental voices share the same aspect, and underlying all is the tone of wise, confidence.
